good to see you Jon
has to be one of my favorites you've made Jon, also sorry for not bein here as often been busy bbg. stay cool 🧊🧊🧊🧊🧊
like fr if you don't rap on this i'll buy it
My brain can actually not comprehend that someone would ask such a stupid question. So, what am I, after 42 years playing piano and guitar? Not an artist, because it’s a hobby. But I sound pretty decent. Christ….
are you done releasing music?
The Rhodes is always nice
Lookin down the barrel of a gun sun of a gun son of a b getting paid getting rich.. that's almost a beastie beat😊
"I didn't make this, someone else made this." Jon out here dropping gems.
bro this guy looks exactly like jon wayne, that's crazy
Well put 😎
Fr Jon's account is so inspirational for when I make music
I don’t comment much, but when I do, it’s to let you know that beat in the first 1:39 of the video already sounds like a hit. Great job, came here for the RYTM but left with wanting to actually learn piano. Such a key instrument
This is an immaculate alchemical dissertation
I've been creating music since I was 9 years old (1997). But didn't really get my own gear until I was 20 years old (2007). I think it's best for beginners to make as much music as they can at first, so they can learn their gear and WHAT NOT TO DO. Then when you get some years under your belt it will be ok to make less music, but still finish music you find to be your favorite creations. By then you'll be able to sit down and make something thats great with it taking less time getting in the zone mentally; whether you work alone or not. I too am down to about one song per week. I wish I could find more talented vocal artists who can say the same lol. But I've worked on numerous projects throughout the years and have no issue with going into overdrive and doing a whole album for someone in a month. And that includes post-production, arranging/editing and mixing. It's not the quantity, it's the quality.
Glad to find this even tho it's 5 mo out got me geeked on "they hear my beats it like they're sucking on lemon head? Fire bro
Tbh, worrying about how many beats/songs you should make a week holds you back from creating. Every time I worried about this, I either burnt myself out or made absolutely nothing.
I'm 42 seconds in. Was looking for a recommendation, got a summary of my purpose in life. Thank you <3
surprised no one else has called out the Bark Psychosis sample the beat is based around. very cool!
Sweeeeet stuff
what kind of keyboard was that you used in this video? Is that a Waldorf?
Hey dude I just saw your sketch on the Eric Andre show. I had no idea you did that! What a legend
Fresh!! Thank you.
I think early on repetition can help you learn. However once you get going and develop your style you shouldn't try to force things - making music is supposed to be fun. Granted I say this as a hobbyist, but nevertheless. Love your wisdom, Jon
Vocal sample should be off best against kick, would have good swing
Thanks again for making magic AND then sharing homie!! Def need more of this in the world today
I agree that forcing it never works. Sitting down with the intention to make something without really having the inspiration just leads to being disappointed with the results. But sometimes I just get that feeling, usually once a week or so, and that's when I make the good stuff.
"Ran outta tracks, so the beats done!” Don't forget about octatrack parts! That way you can get super confused about which patterns have which parts/tracks and screw up all your tracks at the same time while trying to sort everything out just like me!
1 a week is good for me. Unless I'm in a collab then it could be 2 or 3. But if it's just me I like to "take my time / rewind and make my mind up."
Rap album two is one of the most beautiful hip hop albums ever man, huge fan of all your from the vaults stuff too, very excited to see you back indeed!!! one of my heroes right here
Kinda gives me early flying lotus vibes, love it
There is a difference between being an artist and being a professional and it really takes some soul searching to figure out which one you wanna be. It can be hard to be both.
The Octatrack's buttons have a cool sound. It would be meta to add them as a percussive element, as if the song is playing itself.
Being a 'real artist'. Everyone is but realness in this world is about money. Every artist is an artist. I make great song nobody will ever hear.
seven times
Absolute fire! It´s amazing how Jon can make banger beats without sampling
Man I would love to even get to one song a month. Granted I'm not able to put in hours into making tracks every day and just do it on the weekends, but I know that I tend to overthink it.
I try to learn every day. I'm not too concerned with finishing songs.
I think its kind of like pooping. You will know when its right. Thanks for your guidance Jon.
fucking mind blowing beats per usual my goodness sir
Wish I had your setup but if I did I know for a fact I wouldn’t know what I’m doing 😂
Loved this beat! Those chords got mad tribe vibes to em. Been asking myself this question a lot recently too. Thanks for the constant philosophy for the producer, its much appreciated my man 👏
This man straight up magic 🪄
My boy is back 🙌🏾🔥
yes
all I gotta say is that you're one sick individual
These machines are very cool 👍
a real musician makes music. thats it...however much you make is what it is
I feel like this is the only true answer
“Ran outta tracks, so the beats done!” This is the most appealing thing to me about a hardware workstation. Rather than hitting a CPU limit and everything gets bogged down and slow
I go for “ran out of ram for samples”
Facts! If you’re having fun you won! 👀“weed” pattern 😂
